Do you remember eating Hot Pockets when you were a kid? I haven’t eaten one in years. I was craving one the other day so I made this turkey ham jalapeno cheese pocket out of biscuit dough, and it was spot on! But better!
I actually liked it much better than the store bought Hot Pockets.
The warm crispy crust blended in the melted spicy cheese with the turkey and ham was exactly what my tastebuds were craving!
Try it, you’ll be amazed at how easy and quick it is to make these. They are perfect for those hungry kiddos, for a meal-on-the-go, or just a snack! And, these turkey ham jalapeno cheese pockets are budget-friendly, too!
Without further ado, let’s get started!
INGREDIENTS
- 4 biscuits, Pillsbury Southern Style Buttermilk Biscuits- 5 or 8 count biscuit
- 8 thin slices of Turkey, or your favorite
- 8 thin slices of Peppered Ham or your favorite.
- 2 halved Cheese Slices or your favorite, I used pepper jack jalapeno.
- * optional, condiments and dipping sauce
TOOLS
- Cookie Sheet
- Silicone Liner or parchment paper
- Rolling pin
- Oven
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. and line the cookie sheet with parchment paper or silicone liner.
Open the can of biscuit dough and remove them from the can.
On a clean surface, roll out each individual biscuit dough into a circle with your rolling pin. About the size of your hand, or 6 in. X 6 in.
In case you are wondering if I added flour to prevent sticking, it wasn’t necessary. The dough didn’t stick to the counter top or my rolling pin. 🙂
Place a half of a cheese slice onto the rolled dough.
Now add two slices of turkey, and two slices of ham.
If you are not crazy about turkey or ham, use your favorite lunch meat. This recipe is very forgiving! It will taste amazing anyway you customize your pocket.
At this point you can add any of your favorite condiments. Such as mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup, or ranch. Or, whatever gets your tastebuds rolling!
I chose to be a plain Jane! I just wanted a simple sandwich with cheese. This alone was so good!
Now the fun part! Roll up your dough into a pocket. Start at one end, with your fingertips, roll the dough with the ingredients into a pocket. Or what you may call a roll-up or pinwheel.
See I could have named this recipe a roll-up, pinwheel, or maybe a wrap but figured everyone is more familiar with the hot pocket. Right?
Once you have all of the pockets stuffed to your liking, place them on your lined cookie sheet.
Don’t forget to line the cookie sheet with parchment paper or a silicone liner. This helps to prevent sticking in case the cheese oozes out of the sides.
If you’re using a silicone liner, spraying it with cooking oil or baking spray is not recommended.
If using a liner, and the cheese does ooze, no worries, the cheese will wipe right off without a struggle!
Place the cookie sheet into a preheated oven of 375 degrees F. for 15 minutes or until golden brown, once baked, remove from oven, set aside for several minutes, and enjoy!
That’s it! Wasn’t that Easy peasy?
